At some point in time, we all need to take leave for some reason and sometimes we even need to extend that leave. In such situations, writing a leave extension letter is what you must write to your boss or management. The application for leave extension is a simple letter that is submitted by the employee who is already on leave and wishes to extend his or her for some more days. It must include the number of extra leaves one desires and the reason for extending the leaves.

Sub: Regarding request for leave extension.

Dear Mr. Henry,

I am writing this letter to bring to your notice that my mother has been operated and is still hospitalized as she is under observation. The doctors have advised her a stay of two more days in order to keep her under observation as the surgery was not gone as it was planned and therefore, more supervision is required to make sure that the recovery is on the right track.

I had submitted a leave application of ten days but considering my mother’s health, I will need to extend my leave by four more days so that I can have her discharged from the hospital and have her settled at home before my rejoin the office.

I am hopeful that you are going to understand my situation and will consider my request by granting me the leave extension from April 13^th, 2023 to April 16^th, 2023. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused because of me but I will make sure that I am able to respond to all the calls if there is any emergency. I assure that I will be at work on April 17^th, 2023.
